Recruitment

Recruiting Experts by Experience: AgeUK

Are you an older person? Do you care for an older person? Do you have experience of using social and/or health care services for older people?
Age UK is currently seeking to recruit people with your knowledge and experience to join their Acting Together project as Experts by Experience.
Experts by Experience support the Care Quality Commission (CQC), working alongside their inspectors on inspections of services such as care homes and hospitals. They help gather the experiences and views of people using those services, and are asked to submit brief reports to Age UK and CQC afterwards. All Experts by Experience who take part in inspections will be subject to a Criminal Records Bureau check.
Experts can also take part in other activities for CQC such as consultations, events and reviewing information
You will be paid for the work you do at the rate of £17 per hour and you will complete between one and seven hours work for AgeUK per activity. If you require assistance to complete activities we will also cover these expenses (including your support worker if you need one).
This project runs until March 2013 and you will typically be asked to complete three or four inspections (full training will be provided) during that period. Wherever possible AgeUK will ask you only to work within your own region.
You may also be asked to do other things such as review CQC information leaflets and to input into consultations. If you would prefer only to review and input (not go on inspections), please contact AgeUK. They are very keen to hear from all older people and their family carers who want to play a part in this work.
Age UK are looking for Experts by Experience in the following regions in England; the East, the East Midlands, the West Midlands, the North East, the North West, Yorkshire and the Humber, the South West and London. They do not currently require experts in the South East of England as they currently have enough Experts by Experience in this area.
It is important that Experts by Experience reflect the community they live in and AgeUK welcome applications from people with early-stage dementia, family carers, members of all ethnic or faith groups and people from the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transsexual community.

AgeUK are looking for individuals only, so no company applications please.
If you are interested in this position, please contact Pauline Johnson for an application form, full role description and job pack
The closing date for applications is 15 February 2012
